I have a Winchester model 70 chambered in 220 Swift in my safe that I was thinking about selling. I was wondering if somebody could give me an idea of what it might be worth. The blueing, and walnut stock are in pretty good shape. I don't know how old the rifle is but I do know it is a pre 64. My dad bought it used in 1976 and it wasn't shot from 76 until last week. I got it out and finally pulled the trigger on it. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Right now on Gunbrokers, there are 3 model 70 220 swift's for sale. They are asking $1200 start (1953 swift), $2,000 (1936 swift), and $4,000 (no year given, just pre 64). My dad had one that I shot as a kid. It was his favorite gun. Canjar trigger. It has been rebarrelled and a different stock put on now. Was thinking about replacing the stock and shooting it again.

Unless it's an absolutely stone mint early Pre-War, $4000 is WAY too high. Sounds like yours is a shooter, not a collector. If the throat is not eroded it might bring $1200-$1400 to the right buyer. If the throat shows wear and the exterior is rough, you might be looking for a buyer who wants a Pre-64 M70 action and is priced accordingly. Standard actions in excellent condition bring up to $750 these days.
