Any manufacturer recommendations? The closest load I've found is Hornady 58 grain, but they're moly coated, which I'm trying to stay away from. Thanks in advance.

My brother shoots the Winchester Ballistic Silvertip 55 grain bullets with excellent accuracy I believe it is Winchesters black box ammo the bullet is a Nosler ballistic tip (gray polymer tip) and a black moly coat (or something similar) on the bullet. Outstanding factory load in his rifle. he's had no issues with the coating on these bullets.

I have a Rem ADL in 243 that is the most inaccurate 243 I have ever seen...

however, it sure liked a load of 50 grains of H 380 and a 55 grain ballistic tip and a 60 grain Sierra HP.. both at 4000 fps...

pretty much a one hole shooter if I can hold the rifle steady enough...

after developing that load, Nosler came out with pretty close to the same thing in their manual...they went 53 grains when I went 50...

but highly recommend it for accuracy.. but it sure has a big bang to it for a 243...

I'd sneak up on that 60 grain load slowly.

It's a couple of grains above Hodgdon's maximum load.

yeah Frank.. but if you check out hodgdon's loads with H 380 on the 55 grain bullets, their max was at about 45 grains.. then Nosler comes out with their load data, and their max was 8 grains higher at 53 grains! I was at 50.. 5 above Hodgdons and 3 below Noslers....

so 3 grains less powder with 5 more grains of bullet.. I don't think I am pushing the pressue envelope here at all...

just submitting a counter point, and my thoughts after I worked up to the 50 grain load of H 380 with the 55 and 60 grain bullets...

my 243 Winchester and Remington cases have gone the usual 8 to 10 reloads with that load, before getting neck splits or whatever.... but the primer pockets survive just fine.. and that is being shot in half a dozen different 243s I have access to...

I haven't tried H380 in my 243 yet, I use it in the 22.250's. 50 grains just sounded high to me so I looked it up on Hodgdon's website and noticed that they say the max load of H380 is 51 grains with the 55 grain bullet and 48 grains with the 60 grain bullets.

I haven't looked in my Nosler books because all my reloading stuff is in storage right now. (My house is up for sale).

Thats okay Frank.. you were right, because in older manuals they listed like 45 grains as max with a 55 to 60 grain bullet...

But then Nosler came out with their load for their bullet, and Hodgdon upped their recommendation...
