I have tried the 30 cal VLDs, some 6mm VLDs and Some .224 VLDs. With the rifles I have the only VLD I've had any real success with is the 70gr. .224 bullet in the Savage 12bvss , 1-9 twist. Sorry I can't be of more help. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

Most everyone on longrangehunting.com uses Bergers or Matchkings, you could ask there. Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

I am shooting the Berger 168 VLD in my 7mm WSM. Its very accurate. So far I have taken one deer with it at 315 yds with a single shot. The exit hole was not that great but the deer dropped on the spot due to the shot placement. I am loading the VLD's in other calibers for deer and coyotes and I have taken another deer with the 155 VLD out of a 308 at 125 yds.. Get the 'power' or optic that your eye likes instead of what someone else says. When we go to the doctor they ask us what lens we like! Do that with your optics.
