This is a very complicated wildcat Big Grin

You take a modern rifle (Rem 700, Win Mod. 70 etc.) chambered in 6.5x55. You run the brass thru a standard 6.5x55 die. Then you load it to modern pressures ~62K psi with an appropriate powder like H4350 and voila

You can push a 135 grain berger at 2925 fps easily surpassing the ballistics of the Creedmoor. Big Grin

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

Ah, yes! Apparently you don't understand. The 6.5 Creedmoor is magic! The 6.5x55 is 125 years old and simply old hat. New magic beats old hat every time. Just don't let cold hard ballistic facts get in the way of the market's gullibility to swallow as gospel spurious advertising.

I've shot a 6.5x55 for 30 years and despite claims of a better sex life, I have yet to feel the need for the 6.5 what ya call it.

The right 6.5x55 hasn't came along yet for me, but if I ever see a LH Tikka T3x chambered in this caliber in my LGS...I'll hang onto it longer than the last 6.5 Creedmoor

Very cool! I’ve been looking for a wildcat just like that, especially one that uses 120 grainers and H4350.

Just like a couple other older cartridges....they kill way better than one would imagine, even at standard velocities.

Or for an even more stellar option, simply run 280AI brass through a bushing die and load 6.5 140 grain bullets at 3150 and enjoy even more with zero hassle.

I have a shooting buddy who shot with me for many years. He shot the 6.5X55 for years and I chronyed hundreds of rounds for him. Many of those loads were better than the Creedmore. I don't remember his speeds but he has all the papers we recorded his shots on. I always admired his 6.5 bullets because of their long narrow lines. When the 6.5 PRC came out I didn't hesitate to get one and start shooting. It is a fine round and fun to play with and will make a great Whittail bean field rifle. On the larger animals I will shoot the larger calibers. Good Shooting.

Well if that is what you want then just shoot a 260 remington for identical ballistics to the creedmoor Big Grin

Personally - I have no use for an AR-10. They weigh a ton.

never work.
they tried it with the 6.5 X 57 already, like you know when the X55 round was popular.
but just to make sure they tried it again a few more times and called it other stuff like the 6,5x0-6 and 6.5 X 284.

so nope your new fangled round is headed for the dustbin of history like all the others.

No one ever sold it at academy in the good old days when ammo was available.

I did see a few boxes of 6.5 Hornaday match for $31 at academy today.

I hate that we have so many options and choices too. If only we could just have a Swede with 140 grain Core-Lokt for the small stuff and the 30-06 with 180 grain Core-Lokt for the big stuff. Both work well in the 1885 and with that loooooong sight radius we should be good to 150 yards. Nobody has ANY business shooting past that anyway. I miss the good ol' days.

The 135gr Berger Hybrid “Classic Hunter”. Is a Incredibly accurate bullet. Stuffs Mule deer in the dirt at distances most snivel about. I push it along at a comfy 2841 from a 23” barrel with 6.5 CM engraved on it.

Of course the 6.5 Super Easy already has been doing the exact same thing for more than a century!

I guess it’s the fact I have never shot or witnessed a 6.5 Super easy shoot consisted 1/4 MOA or less groups like I have over and over again with the 6.5 CM and 6.5x47. Then again true accuracy and what one needs for making a hit on a Mule deer are two completely different things. I like 1/4 MOA rifles but I have no problem smoking a deer at 600 with a rifle that shoots 1 1/2” @ 100.

Maybe because you haven't owned a 6.5x55?

It has a loong history as a target cartridge so getting it to shoot isn't much of a problem. Every one I've owned even in original military garb has been outstandingly accurate. But I'm sure the new CM version can do as well. Wink

Amazing the number of people calling about the Creedmore.

I keep telling them there is nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, this can do that other cartridges cannot do.
