Is there a up side or a down side of useing LAKE CITY 223 Brass. I have a bunch that needs cleaning and care. Just wondering what to look out for. Have some old WWC64 223. wild weight to weight from case to case. Have not got that far with the newer WWC cases or the Lake City stuff. Life but a knife edge anyway.Sooner or later the man slips and gets cut. YOU AIN'T SLIPPED SIR? How would you know son. (Streets Of Laredo)

Lake City Brass is normally very good. You normally find it has less capacity than factory so rework your loads. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

I too would be glad to help use up your offending LC brass. I've shot a bunch of it (over and over)over the years with no complaints at all. Mike -------------- DRSS, Womper's Club, NRA Life Member/Charter Member NRA Golden Eagles ... Knifemaker, http://www.mstarling.com

I believe it's NATO spec and not SAAMI spec. So the case is thicker and the capacity reduced. (I Believe...)

When I first got a 223 I bought 400 rounds of the WWC64. Like I had said weight from case to case was wild. Bought new winchester and it happen to be great. So kind of gave up on the mil stuff. Then comes along the local indian police at a local range and leaveing few hundred rounds on the ground every time.Add how the price of brass is going up and you get to thinking this LC stuff starting to look pertty good. I agree. I picked up 500 LC cases that were cleaned and primed and have had good luck with them. They are somewhat sought after due to their quality and durability.

If you are getting large amounts of it, it is pretty simple just to sort it into lots by weight. That does sometimes appear to help accuracy a bit for competition shooters. When Canada was issuing a choice of WRA military 7.62 ball or IVI military 7.62 ball on the line at the Canadian Nationals each year (handloads were not allowed), the British Teams used to clean up (win) pretty regularly. They sorted the as-issued ammo by total weight of the round(s). My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

Interesting. Makes sence. I was thinking that I would clean, deprime,& weight. They are close in years but sill who knows what lots. head stamps may be same years but show different looks in how deep or different look to them. Like I said getting enough to make it worth it. Thanks guys Life but a knife edge anyway.Sooner or later the man slips and gets cut. YOU AIN'T SLIPPED SIR? How would you know son. (Streets Of Laredo)
