I was at Browning's website and didn't see the M-65

Are they making it now?

Vapo:

I don't think Browning has offered the model 65 since the early 1990's. My best info is they made 3000 to 3500, about the same time they offered the model 53 in 32-20 and 25-20.

This little rifle is going to be lots of fun, although I have no experience with the 218 Bee.

Try Lil Gun or IMR 4227 with 35-45 grain bullets....

Hornady makes a 45 grain bullet just for the Bee
12 grains of H-110 drives it about 2,800'/sec and removes squirrels from trees with spectacular results. No need to prepare them for dinner!!

Thanks Guys:

I will try your suggestions. I happen to have a jug of H110, a can or 2 of Lil Gun and some IMR4227.

Jerry Eden: I have two Rifles in caliber 218 Bee. I enjoy them both immensely! One is a bolt action Kimber with a 23 1/2" barrel and the other is a Ruger #1-B with a 26" barrel.
Both are accurate with the tried and true Sierra 50 gr. Blitz bullet! Sierra product #1340.
These bullets in addition to being accurate and economical are especially lethal on all manner of Varmints (in case you are interested in Varminting with your 218 Bee).
I highly recommend the Sierra 50 gr. Blitz in your new Rifle! Even if the Spitzer point of this bullet turns your lever action Rifle into a "two shooter" (one in the chamber and one only in the magazine!) due to the Spitzer points of this bullet - you be the judge about that.
I still think this bullet will serve you well in the nifty little 218 Bee cartridge!
Long live the 218 Bee!

Thanks for the input, I will try the 50 Sierra's. I just got my loading dies today, and while I have loaded a few rounds with a combination of "other" dies, I am anxious to get to the loading bench. It will have to wait a while though, tomorrow is DOVE SEASON HERE IN ARIZONA!!!!!! Finally.

Thanks

Jerry Eden: By coincidence I just got a call this morning from my friend in Wickenburg, Arizona! He was excited about the Dove opener tomorrow but he had checked the weather forecast and it is going to be to hot for him to take his Brown Lab dog with him on this initial Hunt!
He also relayed that this coming Quail season is predicted to be the best in many many years!
He lives on 20 acres and his Quail populations are at all time highs near the house!
Good luck and watch out for Snakes!

WE had a great shoot this morning, yeah it is hot, but this is Arizona. The dogs worked hard, but there are lots of canals for them to jump in and cool off, one yellow, one chocolate, and one black lab, they had a great time. 11 shooters shot 109 birds by 8:00 this morning. We would have shot the allowed 110, but one of the guys wanted to go get an early breakfast so he could get to work. We accidently ran over a sidewinder rattler, played around with another, but didn't shoot it, killed a Mojave Green, too bad, it spooked one of the kids, messed with a huge scorpion, and saw a couple of trantulas. Along with the great shooting, seeing all these critters makes the hunt just that much more enjoyable, at least as far as I am concerned. About the only thing we didn't see was a Gila Monster.

There should be lots of quail this year, after all the rain we have had. You should try and come down to your buddies place, I am sure it will be a great bird hunt.

Your 50 gr sierras are ok if you want to use it as a single shot. If you want to use the magazine use the Hornady 45 Gr. HP Bee. I use 11.5 or 12 gr of 2400. BTW I have a NIB m65 for sale if someone is interested.

Jerry,

Sounds like all you need now is a javalina tag.

Kaboom:

I have a real conondrum, when it comes to Javelina!

The last few seasons we have hunted the "pigs" with handguns, and my kids are going to want to do the same this year. Now on the other hand my best buddy and his son, go down south and hunt with rifles, to which I have been invited.

See my problem, LOL!

Jerry Eden: Great report! And it sure sounds like a fun Hunt as well as rewarding!
Yes I will be doing that opener of Quail maybe next year for sure.
I am now going on 16 days into this Rattlesnake bite I am dealing with and I am not up to par as yet by any means.
I used to take pictures of Rattlesnakes and watch them slither about - from now on I am going to give them as wide a berth as possible!
I DO NOT want to go through this misery again!
Long live Arizona!

VARMINTGUY:

Tell us about your rattelsnake bite! What happened, etc. And by the way, sorry to hear you got "nailed".

I found these 2 Mojave Greens mating, both were close to four feet. I left them alone, one had a long large rattel, the other had a short one, maybe bit off or something. The short one was killed as one of the guys almost stepped on it, I then told them all to leave "MY" other snake alone. Problem is, as you know, with kids and dogs in the field rattlers are a huge problem.

Along the lines of the Model 65 Browning, YUMAN had one for sale, and I was able to hook him up with one of my friends, whom bought it. This site has lots of uses, dosen't it.

Best Wishes on your recovery
