anyone have any loading data for my new 6.5wsm? I'm using 140g SMK and have Retumbo and H869 powders. Its in a long action Savage 110 w/ 28" Pacnor barrel 1:8

Here's some data from my and my buddy's 6.5WSM. Both have 26" light barrels and are used as hunting rifles. Groups are best for that load, not avg.

6.5 WSM

Bullet OAL Powder Weight Primer Case (WW) Comments

Nosler BT 100gr OAL=2.90, REL-19, 57gr, WLR, .270WSM rfmd 0.608†five shots

Barnes X 120gr, OAL=2.81, H4831SC 58.5gr, WLRM, 0.848†group

Same except 62gr (max), group 2.79

Same except 59gr, group 0.538â€

Swift A-F 120gr, oal=2.81, 59gr 4831SC, group 1.038â€

Swift A-F 140gr, oal=2.90, H-1000 64gr, group 1.408â€

Same except 65gr (max), group 1.193â€
“ 2.82, 64.5, 0.136â€, all grps under .5â€
Barnes X 140gr, oal=2.779, IMR-782 62gr, .453â€, all grps under .5â€

Had some great groups with now-discontinued powders, but decided not to list them.

hmmmm, maybe i got a bit carried away on my test loads!

I loaded:
65.0g - 70.0g of Retumbo in .5g increments
and;
66.5g - 72.5g of H869 in .5g increments to test

OAL 2.935" ------ .010" off the lands
Haven't shot any yet , but may need to be pulling some bullets

I think on 6mmBR.com there may be some info on the WSM and WSSM versions of 6.5. Check the forums there. Also, LongRangeHunting.com

FWIW: a fast run through quickload shows 64.5gr of Retumbo as max pressure. Predicts 3196 fps with 100% burn.

looks like i'd better make some changes, i'm at 2.935" col, and what max pressure? 65,000?
