There's been quite a bit of discussion over on Saubiers forum (see link below) and on RimfireCentral about this round in the last few days. Apparently, a member at RimfireCentral (Ski) was able to get ahold of a preproduction run of .17 Aguila ammo. The box states it uses an 18-gr polytip bullet at 2550 fps! Thats equal to a .17 HMR but from a much smaller case. He posted pictures of the box, the ammo, some comparisons between the .17 HMR, .17 Aguila, .22 Mag, and .22LR. If this is for real, it would be A LOT of fun to get a drop-in barrel for my 10/22 chambered in .17 Aguila. Add a preban 25rd mag, and varmints watch out! Peace. http://www.saubier.com/forum.html http://rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=bb33caf939c7532e50047515eccb0311&threadid=18835

I never bought a .22 RF Mag because I handload. I can see where a .17 would be fun but they are not legal in my state for small game except on private land. I want a .17 on a small case with a very light load choice like air rifles have. I don't see such a load becoming "legal" here however but it would be safer to shoot at stuff in trees. Right now I am testing the .22 Aquila Colibri (no powder load) with it's 20 gr bullet in a pistol.
