Probably. It will ultimately depend on the velocity and the specific bullet. LWD

Lenny There is a formula that you can try and it will get you close but ultimately you don't know for a fact that a certain bullet will be accurate in your barrel until you try it. And yes as LWD stated besides twist one of the factors is velocity. The formula calculates optimum twist for your specific bullet. Here is the formula: 150 x D ^ 2/L = Twist 150= Constant D= Diameter of bullet L= Length of bullet No matter what the calculator says the 14 twist you mention will probably work. Good luck with your project.

And if you're buying an ER Shaw barrel. just order a 1:12" twist. Might not be available in the kit from Midway, but you can order the barrel from ER Shaw directly and the remaining items from Midway. LWD

I have a custom 22/250rem with a 1/14" twist tube and it won't stabilize 60 grain bullets. My rifle is an older build that I bought at a gun show and has a Schoultz barrel, which I think dates back to the early 1960's. If I were picking a barrel for a 22/250 I would put a 1/12" ROT on it. I have a one in 14 twist barrel on a Model 70 in 22.250.. it is a Pac Nor barrel. I had it throated out to take a bullet seated fairly far out, since the rifle was originally a 243.. I can only attest to a Sierra 60 grain HP... but behind 30 grains of RL 7, it shoots that bullet just fine...MV is a little over 3600 fps.. the rifle is very accurate... has a 28 inch barrel on it, in a Stainless Heavy Magnum contour...

I've have quite a few 22 cal rifles in 22-250, 220 Swift and 22-243 and NONE of them liked any bullet from 60 gr up and over the length of a Hornady 60gr SP...~0.755"...the 22-243 would give high enough velo to handle the Horn 60 HP at 0.800", but the 60 gr VM at 0.870" would only do ~1" and that's the best I ever got...1-12 and 1-10 T would do very well with up to 0.950" or so. But...each rifle has it's own idea so all you can do is try. Luck
