I posted this in the wildcat section also.
A friend has his grandfather's M70 from the 40's. 257 Roberts is x'd out and 250 hd is stamped on it. Anyone have any info on this?

Have you made a chamber cast to see what it looks like?

Sounds like the 250 Harvey Donaldson...which I think is a 250 Savage IMP..May have had a slightly different degree of shoulder than the Ackely IMP..or it may have been the forerunner of the 250-3000 savage.

I found out it is a 1940's wildcat. A 30-40 Krag necked down to 25 cal.

Old thread I know but the 250 HD was 250 HELL DRIVER . At least the one I had . Based on a 250 savage or 257 roberts , still have the box somewhere .

Sounds like time for a chamber cast..
