it is a really hard time for hunters now!! the beast are becoming more and more imune to the bullets Wink and 223 can't kill even a little deer.the 300 ultra mag and weatherby barely enough for the task. 223rem with around 1300 fpe at muzzle is good only for coyote or jack rabbits. concidering a moose can weigh more than 5 to even ten times than a little deer. i suggest we should move to 50 BMG for moose hunting rotflmo because a 458 win mag has only 4-5 times energy of a 223 and coulden't be enough for the task. please give me your opinion.
cheers

And we're off and running.
The guys go and spend a whole bunch of money for their "black guns" so's they can go to the range and go pop pop pop and look kewl in their black ninji suits and after a while they get tired of that and say "wonder if we can go kill something". Wink

That would be many thousands! I know because I saw it on TV. They said a ninja suit was optional.

Yes,
You should get a lot of practice for shot placement with your 50 BMG on Swedish jackrabbits before you try to take a moose.

nobody is making hunting rifle in 50 BMG Frowner it is time to begin with some thing bigger than average hunting rounds. fourtunately the swedish moose are not yet imune to the standard calibers and 6,5x55 still kills more than ½ of them each year and the rest is done with such anemic calibers like 308 and 3006 Confused . here in sweden we have a hunting test and guys don't get a gun and hunting licens before being able to shoot right at runing moose in the heart at 90 yards moving target Big Grin maybe it is the reason that 6,5x55 still is good for moose hunting rotflmo

There is another post on AR, where it takes a 270 to kill a DOG, and a 223 and a 243 will not kill in one shot, so I would suggest an RPG?

Most of my experience with the 223 was in Southeast Asia. Nobody there ever complained the I did not use enough cartridge to kill him...

I understand that Shoemaker is accepting booking from guys that want to use a .223 with a 1/6 barrel and 87gr magic bullets for grizzlies. He won't be with you during the hunt but he'll drop you off for a DIY hunt.
Close to where Timothy used to hang out.

If you look at the track record of the .223 and its rifles in asia, it was the most pee poor battle weapon ever dumped on the American fighting man.
