OK, I'm one of the few who still think this is an awesome caliber but if I don't reload for it I am not shooting it.

The last place I called I could buy the ammo for 16.00 per box of 20 but with $15 shipping. $31.00 for a box of shells is kind of rediculous.

Assuming I want to just buy a case of factory fodder for it who has the cheapest shipping?

I would check out Grafs. Not sure if they are the cheapest but they are reasonable. Rem factory loads have proven to be 1/2 MOA loads in both my 6mm rems. I was given the Rem factory ammo by one of the editors of Guns & Ammo, it has worked very well indeed.

You might check for promotional codes. I read a post on this forum recently for free shipping from Grafs. Shipping rates these days are a JOKE! It's cheaper for me to drive 100 miles to Cabela's or SW and pay their higher costs than to mail order from some places. I used to order several products from Natchez, but I can no longer afford their outrageous shipping charges.

This, Graf's is excellent. I've seen brass on the Nosler seconds page a time or two. I bought 200 6mm winchester cases from Midway on sale. But that was 5 years ago, things were differant then.

How do I find Grafs on the net? I also shoot a 6mm and the cost of bullets forced me into reloading. It is now my favorite hobby.

I reload for the 6mm Rem and laugh at how crazy folks will drive themselves looking for ammo for it..

also around here, a box of 6mm Rem, run as high as two boxes of 243 ammo..and only Remington is carried, and usually the boxes have half a dozen price tags on them and an inch of dust.

have you looked at wal mart. I live in bum f*ck nebraska and they have them.

I bough my 6mm two years ago and have bought some standard factory core loc remingtons. They work great. I bought 500 100gr. bullets for reloading though, I really like this gun/caliber.

If my wife hadn't found out I bought it on gbroker it would have been even better.

It is true the 6mm has some on the .243. In my books not earth shaking and I really doubt that a game animal properly shot would ever know. I have found the 100 grain Win bulk packed which would be comparable to Rem Core Lokts to be more than adequate in .243. Certainly would work in a 6mm. I too bought 500 as I reload for my son in law and grandson. Between the 3 of us we have taken more than a few.

I have shot both factory ammo and reloads in my 6mm Remington. When I took up reloading, I never bought another box of factory ammo for it again.

It is in my mind more flexible than the .243 in reloading, and it runs right along side with the 243 WSSM (according to the Nosler, Speer, and Barnes reloading manuals) - particularly when using bullets heavier than 80 gr.

My favorite load for my 6mm Rem is the Barnes 115 gr Original loaded atop Reloder 22. Runs about 2800 fps, and drops deer like the hammer of God. Can't buy a factory load like that anywhere...and Barnes discontinued making that particular bullet as well (Glad I have large supply ).

Another load looking promising is a 95 gr Combined Technologies Ballistic Silvertip atop a load of Reloder 19...another load not available from the factories (at least, not that I've been able to track down...).

My favorite practice load uses the 87 gr Hornady HPBT...can't find that load on the factory offerings, either.

I agree with those above when it comes to buying over the 'Net, only to see the outrageous shipping charges. The shipping charges alone can buy a box of even premium bullets not available in the factory offerings; for the price of a box of 20 premium hunting cartridges in 6mm Remington, I can buy 100 brass.

I come out ahead with this cartridge in loading my own, as I can load up more cartridges with a bullet not offered by the factories, for the same price as a carton of 20.

Unfortunately, the 6 MM is not a very popular round. I have one that I bought years ago and my youngest boy would kill me if I sold it. We have always loaded for it, so factory ammo is not an issue, but it can definitely be tough to find. The shipping can really be tough, but MIdway USA, Cabelas, Natchez, Graf and Sons all should have the ammo.
