I was looking at listings of available chamberings for the T/C Encore. I'm interested in a 17 cal. based on the Hornet case and have come across two chamberings that have me puzzeled. They are the 17 Ackley Hornet and the 17 K-Hornet.

- What is the difference between these two chamberings? (if any)
- Is there a difference in case capacity?
- Would you recomend one over the other?

So far all of the information I have been able to find has all been on the 17 AH. (which isn't much)

Thanks,
J.W.

I think the confusion is because the 22K hornet and the 17AH are the same parent case of the 22 hornet. Some how someone said 17K hornet refering to 17 Ackley Hornet and the term stuck !! My 2cents worth . The K stands for Lysle D. Kilbourn. The 22K hornet was the first wildcat cartridge that could be formed merely by firing factory loaded 22 hornet in the K cut chamber. This information taken from my first reloading book I ever bought. Handbook 39 by Lyman . copyright 1953. Hope this sheds some light on the subject.
