A Buddy gave me some 6.5mm 125 gr. Nosler Partitions last week and asked if I could turn them into 6.5x55 rounds for his new Blaser R93 barrel. He'll be on a 5 day Roe Buck hunt next week.

Researched some load data and when in the loading room opened the powder cabinet. The first can glaring me in the eye was IMR-4831.

I'd listed this powder on the load list I'd made up with this bullet since I knew I had some available. Easy choice, grabbed the can and poured some into the Lyman 1200.

Anyway, to cut to the chase; 47.0 grs. of IMR-4831 in prepped Norma brass, a WLR primer & an O.A.L. of 2.935" later I had 20 rounds ready to go.

Arrived at the range last night where he already had his Boomer on paper with some store bought target ammo (WTFO?) and proceeded to put the first 5 rounds into <.75" at 100 meters requiring a whole 3 clicks right & 3 clicks up for the next 5 to be perfectly sighted-in 2" high at 100 meters.

Job Done, he's off to go hunting.

I've only 3 rifle expereince (2 Mausers & 1 Blaser R93) with this cartridge but each time it has been just about this easy to find an accomodating load quickly that has turned out to be quite accurate right off the bat.

Cheers,

Ben, I have been shooting the 120 BT's from the 260, they are very effective.

I have some 125 Partitons on the shelf. I am going to start loading them next week. They can only be more of a good thing.

Season starts here on Monday, roll on.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

I use the Vulkan 156 grainers from Norma and they are real pig killers !!!

I have a 6,5x55 Sako Finnlight with a 2,5-10x50 Zeiss Diavary sitting on top.

Gee, I don't see why the 6.5x55 keeps coming up in threads. Mackey has proven beyond any doubt that it is a worthless round that can't be counted on to kill anything. If you will send all your rifles and ammunition to me, I will dispose of them properly.

Yo Joe,

That's why I'm soliciting - just wanna make sure, ya know!

When Tommy tells me the bullets start bouncing of the Roe Deer & Pigs; we'll send you the remnants for sure.
