.243 hornady 87 grain hpbt vs deer

My mom won't let me go out after dark, but even she knows the 243 is a fine deer killer and great for coyotes and wistle pigs. She hung her 45-70 on the mantle just after she shot the last wild Buffalo and been shootin a 243 ever since.(She shoots the 87gr HP most of the time)
