Had Jaden out in the back yard today popin' some steel pistol targets with his copperhead pellet rifle. The cold didn't kill his spirit any but we ran out of pellets. Note to dads, keep lots of pellets on hand. Anyway, just showing of the kids again. I told the wife that he's a natural. She said that she pitties the wife he marries if he turns out like me That's my boy! well one of them. --------------------------------- It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it

Well done ,Pop. eh? roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

He looks like he is really enjoying himself, and I guess Dad was as well! How old is Jaden? What a joy to be able to share this with your boy. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... Nice flicks. Looks like he has it figured out. Always good to see the young`uns enjoying shooting. Don't envy the "snow" though.

Jaden is 6. I had bought the air rifle for him when he was 7 months old so he'd have one. Stock length of pull is a bit much for him but he figured his way around it. We're switching from lead pellets to BB's so they ring the steel a little better.
Are you sure Hot Core, I could send you a lot of it. --------------------------------- It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it

My son is just coming up to 3 in February, so it will be a while before I can take him shooting - in particular in over-regulated Europe. But he is already "shooting" everything around him with his imaginary gun (not quite sure what kind it is), and claims to be a crack shot and fully intends to grow up a hunter . Funny thing is, I have not consciously started him on this. Other than seeing pictures in my books, magazines and on the computer screen, we really have not talked much about guns or hunting. I'm not going to discourage it either, though... Fortunately, his Mum also comes from a hunting family, so that makes it a bit easier. I sure hope he stays with it. My son's cousin on the maternal side is 8 now, and he has started shooting - perhaps this might be where the influence comes from? I got a youth stock for my Contender Carbine last year, and "presented" the gun with a .22 Hornet barrel to him over Christmas. It is not going to be his gun, but a gun to be shot by kids in our family. He can shoot it for the next couple of years. But if he sticks with it, I'll buy him his own rifle to take him further when he is old enough. It is a joy to be able to share this interest with kids. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... Excellent. Now go out and buy some eye protection. It doesn't happen often but sooner or later shooting pellets at steel targets one of them will come back your way. Start them out young with eye protection and it will become a habit for the rest of their lives.

Hey NBHunter, Sure appreciate the offer, but I'll pass. I like those Pump-Up pellet rifles myself. I have a 5mm Sherridan Blue Streak that I've had for years. Still lots of fun.

By the size of him, I think a .22lr chipmunk would almost fit him......You would of course need a new .22 also to practice with him. Mink and Wall Tents don't go together. Especially when you are sleeping in the Wall Tent. DRSS .470 & .500

A new picture to show. I took him to the range today to use the 22lr. the shooting stalls help to make sure the muzzle dirrection and it's always nice to shoot from inside this time of year. He tells everyone that this is HIS rifle so I guess I'll have to trick out another ruger for myself and shorten the stock on this one for him. --------------------------------- It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it

Enjoyed your pics, but first thing I thought of was he needs eye protection, especially since you switched to BB's, they will come back at you when shot at steel.

NBHunter, This is great!!!! I do have to spout off an agreement with Greg K and say Jaden DOES need eye protection! Remember the first rule is SAFETY. I really am sorry ( ) that you will have to cut the stock down on that one and build up a new one for yourself!!!!!!! My wife told my boys years ago that anything they wanted relative to hunting or fishing, they could get from dad. That's turned out to be true. Part of the pleasure of being a hunting dad.... Good Show! Socialism works great until you run out of the other person's money......
