Not to hijack Willie's thread on the .260 for elk, but I am hearing some good things about this 156-grain Berger bullet in .264:

https://bergerbullets.com/new-...in-eol-elite-hunter/

This came up in a thread on my old Oregon hunting/fishing forum about disappointment with the Hornady 147-grain ELD, and here was one comment:

"I have some feedback with the 156 Bergers..

250# bear at 500 plus..Started at 3000 fps with 264 WM.. Down right there.

Cow elk at 500 plus..Started at 2900 fps with 6.5 PRC..Down right there.

Cow elk at 500 plus..Started at 2800 fps with 260 Ackley..Down right there.

Antelope at 180..6.5 PRC .Down right there.

Coyote at 200. DEAD right there!

No excessive damage..

I cannot say the same for ELD-X's or M's.. Very inconsistent..I don't like them and I used to be a Hornady fanboy..

Several of my buddies shoot Berger and have not seen a problem yet..

Mostly, DOWN RIGHT THERE.

For the Creedmoor,(and I have one) I would rock either 135 or 140 Bergers and don't look back..HSM makes a factory load with the 140's for those that don't reload.

Brother Ken quit the 143 ELD-X's when one glanced off a shoulder shot on a forkie mule deer.. Can you say ricochet? I have video proof..I will look for it..

Keith,go forth with confidence with the 156's."

If the 260 Remington has a flaw, on any game, it is in a factory chamber, one can't take full advantage of long bullets like this 156 Berger. Even if you have a long enough action, you run out of throat before you clear room for enough powder to compete with the Creedmore. I see you posted comment lists a 260 Ackley, no doubt that user fixed this problem when he built the rifle to hit 2800 with that bullet.
I am not a Long Range hunter but I do understand that the ability to hit the vitals at those ranges takes skill and good equipment including bullets that will operate well at those ranges. Glad to see the Market responding to the need.

Good to hear. I will be loading some of the 156's in my PRC. I purchased several boxes as they shoot very well in my brothers M.O.A. rifle.
