Hey Guys,
I want to buy my 12 y/o son a Savage bolt action rifle in 223 Rem. My selection of Savage dealers is VERY limited around here. Frowner I'm travelling to Oklahoma City Fri, 4/27-Sun, 4/29 to run in the OC half-marathon. I'll travel US 70 west from AR, then north on the Indian Nation Tollway, then west on I40 to OC. Can you recommend a dealer(s) (or gun show) along the way who might be willing to make me a good deal? ConfusedThis would really make a good birthday present (July) for my son! Big Grin Thanks for the help! Gary T.

Good luck and good hunting.

There's a Gun show next weekend at the Fairgrounds a little west of downtown.Dealers in Savage, I'm not sure of but check Outdoor America on McAuthur and Outdoor Outfitters on NW 39th both have a good selection of Rifles.

There has to be a WalMart near you. They can order just about anything in a Savage. Check their website. It's hard to find guns on their website, so try searching for "Savage" or "Remington".

I went to the local store with a printed copy of the website add and the clerk working in the sporting goods refused to honor the website price. If that's the case ask to see the store manager. He gladly honored the website price.

I suppose I will get flamed for buying at WalMart, but my local dealers weren't carrying what I wanted and were asking $100 more to order it for me than WalMart. The $100 I saved went back into their pockets on components I buy.

Thanks for the suggestion, Rob. WinkI'll definitely check out the gun show! The gun shows around here have gotten pretty bad the past few years. Mad According to the Savage website, Outdoor Outfitters and Outdoor America are both dealers. Big GrinOther dealers listed on their site include: H&H Gun Range, Big Boys Gun & Ammo, and Reeds Ammunition & Research. Do you have any experience w/ the other dealers? Confused

RBin, I was going to explain how the last time I priced Savage rifles in 223 at WM a few months ago, their prices weren't that great, Confusedbut decided I'd better recheck first. Guess it's all academic now as WM no longer carries Savage centerfire rifles. Eeker In addition to Remington, they now carry Howa and Marlin. Oh well, in a few months, I suspect they'll change brands again.... Roll Eyes Gary T.

Good luck and good hunting.

The gun show at the Fairgrounds might be your best bet. The OKC dealers in order of prices from least to high: Outdoor America, Outdoor Outfitters & HH Gun Range. Don't know the others. But all three are spotty for Savage inventory, and you are looking for something specific, so the show might work bet.

I wouldn't want to contribute to WalMart if I could help it. But, I'm not anal about it.

Good luck in the race and hope you find what you need.

Savage is distributed through wholesalers, meaning that any dealer can buy them. The trick is to talk to a dealer that has good ties with their wholesaler so they can get the hard to get guns.

of the others I have only been to H&H gun range and they don't have a good selection of Savage Howa seems to be what they sell and stock.Call them went you get to town and see what all they have in stock. Cheaper than driving all over town.Yukon Gun and Pawn has a good stock of used guns if that fits what your needs are. Good luck

Hey guys, Thanks for the good tips! Big GrinI'm really looking forward to the trip. I've been in need of a few days away for a while, now.... Roll Eyes

Mighty Joe, I know where you're coming from as I have some similar feelings about WM, but that's another thread entirely! BTW, many of the WM's are discontinuing firearms. Our "new" WM (6 months old) discontinued firearms when they moved into the new building. Strangely enough, it did pick up alcoholic beverages, though. ConfusedSeems like a sad commentary on the state of things.... FrownerIn addition, the closest Super WM to us (in rural AR) will have discontinued firearms in the next month or two. Mad Gary T.

Good luck and good hunting.
