Has anyone had any experience with the RWS 6.5x55 ammunition. It appears to be the only round they put a "dual core" bullet in. Wondering if this is similar to the Speer Grand Slam bullet, and how it works on game? Also wondering why they only list that type bullet for one caliber only?

RWS has two offerings for 6.5x55. One is the 9.1g DK and the other is the 8.2g KS.

A comparison between a Speer Grand Slam and a DK is not really valid. The GS is a simple jacketed bullet while the DK has two lead cores of different hardness.

hi
i have tried and tested their DK in my husky 6,5x55 . the accuracy was good and velocity was around 840-850 ms in my rifle with only 24 inch barrel. it is more like 140 gr nosler with good penetration and violent impact.

Thanks for the replies. At one time, the Grand Slam used two different materials for the shank and frontal areas. I didn't realize they had changed to one piece like conventional bullets. Think I will try the RWS and see how it holds up on big hogs.

I didn't know RWS was available in the states. Where are you seeing them in 6.5x55?

I believe Graf and Sons have RWS for sale. I picked some up from a guy on another forum.

it ain't any better in the UK either... particularly if you are looking for components, things are even more weird... As if RWS don't want our business! Pity because the quality of their cases is amazing and I would not mind paying the little bit extra that it costs over and above the likes of Norma.
To top it all up, a friend gave me two boxes of RWS loaded with their 175gn bullet in 7x57. Out of my rifle (25 inch, 1:8 pacnor) it chronoed at 2750fps!! and with plenty of accuracy to boot (figur of 8, 3 shot group at 200yds!!! wish my handloads were doing as well!!).
The mind boggles (as to why they don't allow their stuff to flood the markets...)
