Thanks for the kind words GEZZER. You are an inspration to us all!
Yep, all the 6.5's will do the job. I've taken deer with the 6.5MS 6.5x55 and the .260. All kill well and the paper difference is just that.
Its good to shoot the breeze occasionaly and that can be done with any calibre.

seafire, What are you loding the 100's with to get 3350fps? I'm shoting 43.0 grains of VARGET and the 100 grain Nosler and getting 3204 and under .4" groups with a 24" barrel (700, DM, SS) and that load was what I figured was about max!! Just curious! Thanks! GHD

I'm not Seafire, but Nosler manual lists 3,365 fps with H-414 from a 24" barrel shooting the 100g Partition and the 100g Ballistic Tip. Also shows 3,330 fps using W-760 with those bullets. I've worked up an accurate load of H-4350 at 3,340 fps using the 100g Partition. You'll probably loose 50 fps or so out of a 22" barrel.

GHD:

My 260 load for 3350 fps, is 43.5 grains of IMR 4064. That is in a Ruger with a 22 inch barrel.

In a Remington 700 VLS with the 26inch barrel, that same load chronographs at 3450 out of mine.

Cheers

I bought a steyr sbs in 6.5x55 back when their distributor in alabama or georgia or where ever went belly up a few years ago. CDNN Investments out of Texas bought the inventory and was practically giving away steyr rifles (same way the steyr pistols are going now). Have to say that is one of the best out of the box rifles I have ever had, and my favorite. Have only shot 140 grainers out of it. Rifle really likes everything but barnes xlc bullets. Shoots Hornady A-Max projectiles great. Have never shot a 260, but I would have a hard time believing it could be better than a 6.5
