I got a call from my son today and he was way excited! "I just filled my lion tag." He's jacked, I'm proud, all is good! Hell even the lions smiling. The mans a son to be proud of if you've been a hunter all your life. He stuck a 340 class bull elk with his bow this year, took a 140 class Whitetail in rifle season and now this, he lives to hunt and he's out there regardless of weather. I bet him a hundred bucks he can't talk his mom into eating some of it even though it's real popular meat with some, we'll see . The loins are excellent and taste much like pork chops but more tender!.....just let someone else do the butchering.....the cat smells quite aweful! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." No Blood, no Holes(that aren't supposed to be there). Did he strangle it to death??? Where did all the White Sand come from in Montana? Congratulations on a fine Kill. Now we need a GOOD Story to go with it!!!

Here's the story. The cat weighs about 110 lbs, not huge but real nice. He has a friend with hounds and they chased it till it tree'd. For anyone who hasn't done that that is some serious doing in the mountains. The dogs cut a track, you cut em loose, then you put your running boots on to keep up with things till the cat trees. Easier said than done in steep mountains with a couple feet of snow. Cats ain't slow! After the cat's tree'd ya shoot it and it better be a good shot cause your standing underneath it and if it comes outta that tree wounded it's gonna be "BIG TIME" PO'd!! The guy that owns the hounds is worried about his dogs, not your mangy ass. The guy standing underneath the tree looking up shooting is worried about his kiester!! In this case the weapon of choice was a Kimber .45 ACP, one shot center chest and it was deader'n fried chicken when it hit the ground. Actually handguns are used a lot cause it's easier to pack em while hot footing it through the mountains and the range is usually reasonably close. This one is gonna end up in a full body mount on a branch or something. It was not shot in the back yard but the picture was taken there and we do have em hanging around in the not to distant area as we live out a ways about half mile from our son and his family (lucky us, 3 grandsons ). Not sure what that white stuff is but we seem to get a yard full of it every year about late October to early November and it hangs around everywhere ya don't shovel or plow it till about April or May. As to eating it his buddy with the hounds said if the son didn't want it he'd like the meat as he loves it, I think he's gonna get some lion meat. I don't have a picture of the deer but here's the bull he stuck with an arrow. "If a man buys a rifle at a gun show and his wife doesn't know it"...Did he really buy a rifle? That Elk looks to be "all head". ---- Congratulations to your Son. Tossing "sticks" at Elk has got to be very tough Hunting. Speaks very well for his Hunting abilities. He sure is having a great year. Good Hunting and clean 1-shot Kills.
