Hi, BNG to this site, and the web for that matter. Anyway, a friend and I recently had a couple similar rifles put together. Looking for speed, but trying to enjoy rifles in general.
The rifles are Ruger #1's in 6mm/300um with 33" pacnor moly barrels. We've tried a few different loads so far, but really aren't sure what we are trying to achieve. Both rifles like 55gr Nosler BT, and shoot close to moa regularly. Velocity is about 50fps different seemingly, regardless of the loads between the two rifles. We've worked our way up to 100grns of REL 25, with no obvious signs of pressure (to us anyway)with

velocities at 4975 in my rifle and 5025 in my friends. All bullets we've tried have arrived at the target. With 92grs of REL25 and the 80 gr j36, we get 4500 fps. Recently killed a California hog 175 lbs on the hoof, at 150 yds, broadside through both lungs, instant death, caliber sized hole going in fist sized going out. We're enjoying the process immensely.
Anyone else out there doing similar things?
Looking forward to enjoying this site, thanks for listening.

It's not entirely the same idea but, i'd like to see a .264WSM in a nice little short action BA. I think it'd do well to substitute for the .264WM that i wasn't around to play with before it got dropped from winchester rifles

just my own little idiocincricy (sp?).

I has the 6mm/264 Winchester in the 1970s.

A mate of mine is now doing the 25/300 Winchester an dpreviously had a 257 STW. That is close as we have been to waht you are doing.

There isa poster on HuntAmerica, I think he calls himself BFoster, who has played around witha 244 H&H magnum, and has tried triplex loads.

In theory, if a 300 RUM will do 3300 with 180s then a 6mm/300 Wum should do about 5200 with 55 grainers and about 4350 with 80 grainers.

My ears are getting sore just talking about these calibers

Guys,
This 6mm/300RUM is a very interesting idea. How much did the project set you back and where did you get your dies? Also have you had a chance to try it on any deer type critters yet?
Good Shooting

Several of the posters at www.benchrest.com (Centerfire Forum) and www.xtremeaccuracy.com (Group Therapy) are trying the 6.5 WSM.

You might want to check with them on how they're doing with it.
