AggieDog: Amen - I have only owned three Weatherby calibered Rifles in my life and am down to two right now - one is a beautiful German made 224 Weatherby and then of course my beloved 240 Weatherby custom. The 224 Weatherby is quite similar velocity wise to the 22-250 Remington. But the Rifle itself I am just "taken with"! Its beautiful, its lightweight and fits me to a "tee"! I have had numerous chances to sell it for WAY more than what I paid for it but yet it stays in my gun vaults year fater year and only comes out when I get the urge to "Weatherby" some Rock Chucks or some Coyotes! Love that 224! But, the 240 Weatherby has been one of my most trusted "long rangers" ever since I got it! Over the years I have changed my main loadings for this rig three times! I didn't need to! I just got the whim to "try another bullet" and each time I did - according to my loading log it was extremely easy to make that "new" bullet shoot accurately! So I have not done a LOT of experimenting with the custom 240 but I am convinced this cartridge is easy to find accurate loads with. We all know each Rifle is an individual but the 240 cartrdige, in my mind, has no inherent barrier to finding accuracy with. I have shot along side quite a number of Weatherby and Weatherby Vanguard Rifles over the years and have as yet to see one that was blatantly inaccurate. Do the Vanguards also have the accuracy gurantees that the Weatherby Mark V's have? Yes, speed makes flat trajectories and speedy bullets kill better than slower ones - that is a proven fact. Long live Weatherby! Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

seafire,
I know Oregon very well. Normally I hunt Oregon every year for Elk and such. If I am going to come up to go long range hunting of Ground Squirrels I'll bring my Weatherby all right. One of my .224 Weatherby's and my .223 WSSM M70 Coyote. As far as the 6mm Remington goes I had one and traded it off because it didn’t show me anything over what I already had(my .243 Winchester and .240 Weatherby). The 6mm was OK but ammo was and is hard to find in our small little township. That includes brass. The 6mm Rem., no thanks don’t have a use for one. Lawdog
