I had a Model 70 Super Shadow Super Short chambered in 223 WSSM. It never shot worth a damn! I tried any number of bullets and powders in it, changed scopes, etc. It just would not shoot! (Factory ammo would shoot about 2 inch groups sometimes and miss the target frame entirely the next time.)

I sold it to a friend who said "I can make it shoot". He couldn't and wound up sending it back to Winchester. They sent him an entire new rifle. It shot so poorly that he sent it back inside a month. They sent him a third rifle that was just as bad.

My friend got tired of messing with it and screwed the barrel off. He rebarreled with a custom barrel and made it into a 243 WSSM. Now that rifle shoots extremely well.

So, I would say just rechamber to whichever WSSM cartridge suits you with a good quality barrel and you should have a shooter.

Have your smith turn a few new threads and re chamber it in its original calibre. You still have all the components, no?

well it will be new to me and i dont know weather the previous owner has kept the brass but he only shot factory ammo so prob not and no dies. i dont mind the idea of rechambering that will be rather cheaper compared to a new barrel?
if i do go down the new barrel path any sugestions for what cal to go for? i dont mind a wild cat as i reload but this will be a bit of a first for me.

I would order a match quality bull barrel and chamber it for the 30WSSM wildcat. Kinda like 30br only cooler!
