My neighbor has an old 25 Rem pump rifle. Do any of you have load info for this cartridge? They quit making production rifles in '36, someone said. Ammo is either custom ammo or handloading. I am considering getting the neighbor 13 yrs old into hand loading for it but no loading manuals that I have list that round. Thanks "D" Although cartridge selection is important there is nothing that will substitute for proper first shot placement. Good hunting, "D"

My old Lyman from the early 50s has load info for it and the 25-35 as equivalant. Most of the powders they recommend are current today. I can scan it and E-mail you what I have if you like Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! don't act on this info utill you talk to someone who knows more than I do but. I am prety sure that the 25 remington is just a 25/35 with out the rim. same as a 30 rem and a 30/30. I belive you can use 25/35 dies but not the shell holder. What kind of magazine does the pump remington have , if its a tubuler like a lever you are stuck with blunt nose bullets. I have seen a few old remington pumps with a corkscrew type magazine that keeps the bullet of one round from hitting the primer of the round in front of it. If yours is like this or some other arangment, besided tubular you can use a pointed bullet making the rifle much cooler. At least to me. There is a sierra hollow point 90 grain pill designed for slow twist 250 savages that would be dandy in that pump. You might get 2600 or so, making the 200 yard shot reasonable. I would like to hear more about your rifle, sounds like fun to me ! ...tj3006 freedom1st

Yeah TJ, you are on the money... A member a while ago, posted pics of a Rem Model 30S that he had gotten that was chambered in 25 Remington... I have played with the idea of doing a barrel on a Savage with a 223 bolt head, in the 25 Remington.. it is actually a pretty decent cartridge in a bolt action for young shooters... That and a 117 grain Round Nose in a bolt action... I like that! Wish I could have been the one that found that 30S Remington!

A 30s in 25 remington, wow thats gotta be a prety valuable piece if its in any kind of shape, A heck of a strong action for the cartridge. I would pay alot for an origional 30s in you in .257 Roberts. All the ones I,ve seen had there military barrels in 30,06. I,d take one of those too cause they are prety common and it would make a great Whelen or .358 norma...tj3006 freedom1st

Chartridges Of The World has this to say---"The 25 Rem. is nothing more than a rimless version of the 25-35, but differs slightly in shape. The two are not inter changeable." This leaves the use of 25-35 dies for the 25 Rem. in some doubt unless someone can chime in here who has gone that route and has the experience. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! .25 Rem and .25-35 Win are way different in body shape. I see no chance of using the .25-35 Rem dies to load .25 Rem. You can, however, make .25 Rem from .30-30 or .25-35 brass with some lathe work, and you might have to because factory brass has all but dried up. Leftoverdj The 30 Rem. would be the easy way, If you can find that. IMR-3031 or IMR-4064 seem to be the powders with Federal 210 primer's. 6.5 SWEDE

6.5, the .25 Rem, .30 Rem, and .32 Rem are all about dried up. I got $50 on Ebay for 120 some used .30 Rem of unknown history and honestly described as such. Until and unless someone does a special run of one of those, pickings are going to be slim and getting worse. Part of the problem is the number of Remington Model 8 and Model 81 out there. It's a fact of life that if you are shooting an autoloader you are gonna lose some brass. It is a good citizen's duty to love the country and hate the gubmint.

Last time I was at Cascade Ammunition in Roseburg, they had 30 Rem Brass and also Win 348 brass... Both brand new brass... The 30 Rem had Rem headstamp and the 348 Brass had Winchester Head Stamp.. The 30 Rem was about 40 cents each and the 348 was about 45 cents each...
