What's the maximum case length for the 6x284 and what should it be trimmed to?

The 6-284 is a wildcat. You won't find any "official" specs.

You need to determine the max length that your particular chamber will accomodate and then do not exceed that. Usually, you will trim cases uniformly to a dimension that will accomodate the majority of your brass. Some guys will go so far as to pick out the shortest case that they have and trim all the rest to that length but that often results in a lot of work. Cull out the really short ones and use them for practice, die adjustments, etc

You can get a gauge piece from that Sinclair that fits inside a shortened case. A caliper will tell you the length of your chamber, and you trim a few thousandths less than the chamber dimension. Custom fit.

I have had a couple of 6-284s, but no longer do. I trimmed mine to 2.16", which is 0.005" less than the SAAMI maximum for the 284. Both of my 6-284s were chambered with a "standard" Clymer finish reamer. If you don't have any formed brass to measure, it might be worth your time/effort to do a chamber cast.
