What's the balance point in relation to the magazine?

Are you limited to C.O.L with the Mag like the BRNO Hornet? [This message has been edited by milosmate (edited 05-24-2002).]

Don, the rifle balances right at the front edge of the magazine. Milosmate, I am restricted by the magazine in COL, but so is the Ruger. I just shoot the Ruger one round at a time. You know, I disassembled this rifle tonight to clean it, and the quality and thoughtful touches make my Ruger look like a real piece of crap! And, this rifle was $100 less than the Ruger, 4 years ago! The folks at Sturm Ruger should be ashamed of themselves! It took me about 3 minutes to adjust the trigger to 2.25 pounds, and take a little creep out. It cost me over $100 to get a decent trigger in the Ruger. Regards, George.

It's a shame the folks at CZ didn't allow a little more room in the magazine. The action is long enough for a .223, so they had the opportunity. Is it built in such a way that you could modify the magazine for longer cartridge length?

Stonecreek, The overall size of the magazine can certainly accommodate a longer cartridge. It's got a spacer block at the back, like the Remington 700 does in .17 Remington. I've made a mental note to take the magazine apart and see what I can do with it... George

George. If it is like the brno fox hornet I took my mag apart and filed the back block, only made of plastic. You just have to be carefull when loading the mag so that the next bullet stays infront of the previous one!Or they jam!!

Hey guys Milosmate I think you also sent me the post to extend the magazine . I have done it and as you say just keep it in front of the next and they load & feed fine . I am very happy with my little 527 . Yhe only other thing I added to mine was the glassbediing now she shoots like a target rifle . Regards Rudie

George, I have a CZ 527 Hornet and have modified the magazine. It was very easy to do. If you are interested go to the coyote gods forum and check out tech talk with sframe. Thats where I found the info. I reload to an OAL of 1.84" with 40gr V-max's and still feed fine. There are some feeding issues with shorter bullets like the 35gr V-max's. That .19 Calhoun looks like a great round, I wish more companies would make bullets though. I read an article recently about a new round the .19 Calhoun Badger, That sounds good also. Good luck...Let us know how that calhoun shoots. Chris

Back when CZ was known as Brno it pretty well made it's reputation in N. America with that little .22 Hornet. Most Hornets have a reputation for being finicky little cusses, but I've never heard that said about the CZ. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal Cal Sibley
