Reduced load data for 6mm Remington?

I live in South Carolina where we have a 4 1/2 month deer season with no limit. Baiting is legal, so I put out corn feeders and ground blinds or tree stands about 25 yards away.

I usually hunt with a crossbow to make sure my neighbors don't have any reason to object to me hunting in our neighborhood. I would like to extend my range a little bit without creating a lot of noise.

Has anyone developed a reduced loading for the 6mm Remington that offers enough energy to kill a small whitetail(100-150 pounds) at 25 yards with a head or neck shot, that also offers a minimal report?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Try 10 to 12 grains of Trail Boss...

shoot that and see how you like it...

choice of bullets is all yours...

that will put MV in the 1000 fps range or so, regardless of bullet...

recoil will be on par with a Daisy Red Rider...

How much experimental work have you done with Trail Boss in various cartridges?
Cheers...

Just looked at Hodgdon site and they say a 100gr bullet in a 6Rem has a max load of 35.5grs of H4895 @ 2880fps. Useing their 60% formula for 4895 it works out to 21.3grs at 1728fps. At that speed it would have about 800fpe at muzzle and about 700fpe at 50yrds.

Is a small-ish over-barrel silencer out of the question? It would make those '1728fps' loads of Fat_Albert's sound like a silenced 22lr high velocity. Just a thought.
