I am looking at a used 220 swift Sendero at my gunsmith's shop...I can't find a mark on it...'Smith says the throat looks brand new...thinks it was hardly shot. Asking 700$. I am not familiar with the Sendero model, but have several other Rem 700's. All are shooters. So what say the gun collective? Jump on it or pass? Thanks

Considering the new price is well over $1000, it might be a very good deal or a snake getting ready to bite you...I would check all the Auctions sites first to see what the going price might be. There is some reason a nearly new Sendero is on the shelf at a seamingly low price...economics, bad shooter or...?? If you want it offer $500 and see what the shop does. I've had 4-5 Swifts in the past long time and I just finished building one using a ER Shaw barrel I'm very happy with. You pays your money and takes your chances. Luck

Anyone that I know that has a gun for sale for $700 and gets an offer for $500 tells the fine fellow that made the offer .................. If you want the rifle and you want to grind the gunshop on the price offer him 650. FS

When my brother sold his he got around that same price. His was the stainless fluted model. He had shot less than 200 rounds through it and it still looked brand new. It was a real accurate rifle but he needed the money and had to part with it.

Swifts don't sell as fast as a lot of other Sendero calibers. It's probably priced accordingly. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

I have the SS fluted model and it's likely worth every penny of what they're asking especially if it has the HS precision stock on it... It would go a little bit higher if it was a .223 or .22-250 in most places.

I have one in a 22-250 and it is the most accurate center-fire in the safe. If you like the caliber I would think 650-700 would be a great price.

This post will mean nothing to the original poster, because it doesn't help him a bit with his thinking it over. But it may explain to some of you younger guys why some of us elders hate change so much. Back in 1971 I bought a .220 Swift pre-'64 Model 70 Target in really cherry condition with two original factory-fitted barrels...one looking almost new, and the other of which had never had a single round fired through it. I used that rifle on the prairies of SE Alberta and western Saskatchewan shooting crows and other vermin for 8 years with exquisite results. So? Well, I paid $200 for that rifle, used, with a Fecker 15X scope on it, through the mail from a gun shop in Iowa. Gawd, I hate change!! I Sure wanta do that again today!! Every time I see a Swift mentioned for sale here, I think back to that rifle and how stupid I was to ever sell it.
