I voted holland and holland hell if is free I am going to buy the most expensive one I get then if I don't want it any more I can always sell it to someone who has to have it. and Buy more of the ones I well use.

D'Arcy Echols is supposed to be the best. I think I'd have to find out with a 280 rem.

Like p dog shooter, if it is free I will pick one of the most expensive, thus the Kreighoff. I have two safes full of Winchesters Model 70's that nothing on the list will beat for plain old shooting. Good shooting.

Nice idea for a thread Vapo. Looked at the list and though I respect Mr. Echols work, I don't need any M70s - already had my fill of them.

Considered the concept about winning $$$Expensive$$$ and then trading for what I really want. The Gun Shops I deal with might make me "pay them" to take some of that $$$HIGH$$$ stuff because it wouldn't sell to the locals.

Went with the good old Remington so it will fit in with the rest and meet my accuracy requirements from the get go.

As soon as I voted, it dawned on me that I've been droooooooooling over one of the Weatherby(Anschutz) XXIIs. If they only made it in stainless and synthetic, there would be no hesitation.

My 'other' category vote is Henry. I don't have much use for a levergun and as they go, Henry's are pretty expensive compared to Marlin, etc. But if some benevolent type person is footing the bill, I'll take a Henry to keep some American craftsman at work. Just doing my part to keep our economy percolating...on someone else's dime.

Sorry guys, while D'arcy makes some nice rifles they cant touch a Holland and Holland, even if you didnt want the H&H you could sell it for about 3 times what Echols would fetch....

I was thinking of getting a Holland & Holland but have a pre 64 Win 70 in 375 H&H so I went with a nice new Anschutz 1913 22 rimfire Free Rifle.
