I've been cleaning the gun for a week, now. I'm still getting black patches. I even used JB. I think I'll shoot it some tomorrow, and use the JB on a warm barrel.

The barrel has some pits in the grooves, visible from the muzzle. Don't know how far they go. I'll see how it shoots. At worst, its another gun to play with.

A pal of mine just showed up this afternoon with a sav 340 in.... 225 win. it looks like brand new. We got the scope on but ran out of time to shoot it before I had to get some work done. Maybe tomorrow we'll give it a whirl.

I have a Savage 340 in 222 and it is a nice light calling rifle and very accurate. It's not pretty but it gets the job done every time.Sometimes I have a problem getting the second round chambered if I do it too fast.I have 3 mags for it and it does it with every one of them. But it is a nice inexpensive rifle.
