The non-0verbore 6.5's may possibly be the most useful group of non-dangerous game rounds ever devised; using factory available projectiles from 85 to 160gr. and customs both higher and lower in weight.
The 6.5 helped to usher in the smokeless cartridge era to the worlds military establishment providing accuracy, shootability and killing power that enable lesser trained troups to be quite rapidly effective.
As military tastes changed it became a storied hunting round in several iterations around the globe and today is commercially showing new life in new and old chamberings due to its performance, low recoil and accuracy in light weight formats.
Is that genuflecting enough for your taste?
