I'm seeing reloading data for my new .257 Roberts for a 60 grain pill. Anybody have any experience as to what kind of accuracy I might get out of a BB like that? | ||

At what yardage? 100? 200? What manual did you find this data in? | |||

Wymply, That is not really a long range or high velocity bullet... it was set up for 25/20 speeds which are equal to like a 22 Win Mag rimfire in velocity... unless you are running it cast bullets speeds, I think you will be disappointed... 75 and 87 grain V Max or 85 grain Ballistic tip are about as small as you really want to consider.. I have used both the 60 grain Winchester HP and the 60 grain Hornady FP in my .257 Roberts and I was pleasantly surprised about accuracy..... I wouldn't call it a 600 yard bullet but it'll blow prairie dogs to shreds at 200 yards as the accurcy in my m-70 featherweight ran about 1.5" or so......I prefer the 75 grain HPs but tried a few 60s just for giggles.....they work fairly well! I tried some Hornady 60 grainers in my .257 Ackley Imp. but found it was notall that accurate. NOW the Speer spire point 60 grain .25 cal. bullet was very good bullet as it could withstand higher velocities better than Hornady's. Too bad they dropped the Speer Spire Point .257" 60 grainer.
