Went to the range yesterday with a no name 243 Mauser that I have had for about 20 years. Bought it as a barreled action. Sat around for 18 years finally bought a H&R 340 unfinished stock and completed it about a year ago. Took it as a back up rifle on last years deer hunt. Fired two shots with some cheap Remington Whitetails loads 100g. Inprompto target about 75 yards. Two shots touching. Never did use it that year. Shot some lighter bullets, typical groups with 70-85g bullets 1 1/2 -2". Loaded some cheap Speer 100g BT with RL-19, two sighters, then shot a group. About .425" for three at 100 yards. No idea what make, commercial action, A over P proof mark, made in Spain on the under side of the tang, no import mark. Santa Barbara? Not bad for a rifle that I have less than $175.00 invested in. Got lucky I guess. Don't really need a 243 wondering if it is worth a new barrel or pass it on. Any idea what it may be worth? Timney trigger and smooth bolt shroud, has a Burris FFII 4.5X14 mounted right now.
