If you like either the 100 gr or 120 gr 25 cal Partitions, the Nosler Proshop has them available. I picked up 11 packets of the 120's this past week, so I'm set for a bit with my 257 Rob. http://www.shootersproshop.com...y-2nds/In-Stock.aspx

What's wrong that they sell them as 'seconds'?

In my experience with Noselr's 2nds... nothing is wrong that I can find... They shoot as well as their best, and I would expect that the differences are so subtle as to only be in the shooters favor. From what I have heard, they are blemished or some cosmetic problem so that they could not be sold as firsts. The folks that I have talked to that have been using them for years, have not been able to notice any difference in their performance form the factory firsts. Even the rocks don't last forever.

Not a thing! From the Proshop site. "All Nosler products are hand inspected prior to packaging. Every bullet and every piece of brass is searched for imperfections to ensure that every piece meets Nosler's strict quality standards. Products with physical imperfections and deformities are scrapped, while products with only cosmetic blemishes are labeled as "2nds"." Sometimes Nosler may make a run for a company, say Federal, and they may have a cannulure or different colored polycarbonite tip or a cosmetic blemish, etc. But, basically, they shoot just like and have the same terminal performace as "1st's". I've used them on animals and they work just great!

They are back in stock, but HOLY CRAP at their shipping costs. I sent a box of 100 Sierra 6mm bullets from NY to AL for half that!! US Army 1977-1998

Yes, but the shipping cost stays the same even if you buy a BUNCH like I do.

Yep cost looks pretty good when you have 8-10 bags of bullets. Buy 15 bags and it cost less than a $1/bag for shipping. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Oh Hell! I thought the targets were shot with a 257R! Sorry, I misinterpreted the post. You were just commenting on the quality of Nosler seconds while I thought you were talking about your 257 Roberts! Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Sorry Peter, I don't have a 257 Bob. It's a great little round. But If I did, it would be shooting Nosler Ballistic Tip Seconds.

The factory 2nds are all my brother in law uses to hunt with. He has said he couldn't tell the difference in performance between the 2nds or the non blemished. I only wish they had factory seconds for 35 cal since I have plenty of 25 and 7mm caliber. Those are both nice looking rifles you gents have.

I've shot Nosler's 2nds for several years. Partitions and AccuBonds in 25, 270 and 7mm. Only difference I've noticed is sometimes the color of the jacket material is a little darker than usual. Small price to pay for great shooting/performing bullets. Get a bunch and save on shipping costs. My neighbor and I usually pool our orders.

Peter, I'm not the original owner. I was looking to buy an action or two for some builds I had planned. The original owner, who sells actions, asked what I intended thus his question if I might be interested. Obviously I jumped! The other is my 9.3x62 in a D'Arcy Echols Legend stock. Any who, the barreled action was done by Krieger and given a blue printed action job by them. From there on it is a total Glen Morovitz, of Newell, SD. The wood is Calif English. A Dakota Special Selection which is 2-3 grades higher than their usual stuff. Glen has stocked for Dakota for quite some time. 24" #2ish CM barrel with a 2.75" breech cone and .605" muzzle dia. 13-5/8" LOP. All metal is rust blued. Glen went over the action and slicked it up until it's just like glass. Sunnyhill bottom metal. The wood to metal fit is ungodly tight with a complete glass job but no pillars. It does not like more than 2-3 shots during the warmer months. With the VX3 2.5-8 B&C scope it's about 8lb 4 or so oz, IIRC. Fully checkered metal butt plate and a steel grip cap. When I started working on loads for it last summer, I ended up buying about 600 Nosler 100 gr e-tips 2nds. Well, this thing, as Charley Santoni put it, is a "Tempermental Hoar" when it comes to monometal bullets. It took me 400 e-tips and 7 different powders to figure that out. I sent it off to Charley to look the rifle over from top to bottom. He could not find anything wrong. He then asked if he could try some of his favorite reloads in it and it likes IMR 4831 and the 115 BT. I took it from there and tried both IMR and H4831 along with the 120 Partition. All four combinations will give around sub/just over MOA groups. The past two Saturday's I've run it through it's paces utilizing the B&C reticle to continually smack 6" and 10" steel out to 400 yds from various field positions. 42.9 gr of IMR 4831, 115 BT, 2879 fps, 9 SD = .93 MOA average. 43.9 gr H4831, 115 BT, 2901 fps, 10 SD = .93 MOA average. 45 gr H4831, 120 PT, 2900 fps, 7 SD = 1.1 MOA average.
