Hello, has anyone tried CCI HV "stingers" .22 ammo out of their (specifically) CZ 452 ? I couldn't get them to group worth a damn Switched to winchester and no problem at all why would 1 gun shoot some ammo brilliantly and not other makes, given same weight etc? Roebuck222

Beats me. Just is. My CZ 452V don't like Stingers, neither. Another one might. One thing I did notice in extensive testing is that lead bullets can take 10-20 rounds to settle down after switching brands. My theory is that some lubes are incompatable. I tested the plated, such as the Stingers, separately with a thorough cleaning inbetween. Did not see any problems switching brands, but none of the plated rounds shot as well as the average of the lead. Here's an interesting series of tests. http://www.accuratereloading.com/22rf.html They got more uniform results than I got, but the best ammo in my gun gave results close to their bests. It is a good citizen's duty to love the country and hate the gubmint.

I've had rifles shoot them great.....and others very poorly...no clue as to why!!! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Yes, Have used them a plenty and no, can't get em to group either, something about them is just too hot or fast for my CZ. Slow things down a little and all seems well, quite why I don't know. Feed it subsonic Winchesters and it will one hole at 50 yards all day long . I now keep things to this range and use the .17HMR for longer ranges

I've never owned a gun that would shoot the CCI Stingers well, including a CZ 452. On the other hand I have yet to see a gun that wouldn't shoot CCI Velocitors acceptably. They're not quite as fast as Stingers, but the heavier bullet makes up for that shortcoming. We didn't inherit the land from our fathers, we're borrowing it from our children.

I have never seen stingers group worth a darn out of any rifle, regardless of manufacturer, or action type, or barrel type... Most fools who buy the second and third box of them, are after the velocity increase althought I am sure most are clueless of what the velocity is... They just strafe something out of their 10/22 and are happy they hit something.. and could care less if it took 40 rounds to do so.... cheers seafire

Can't tell you about CZ rifles(don't own one and most likely never will) but all my Rugers seem to get about their best accuracy with Stingers. Lawdog

urrm stingers group very well from my cz varmint as do velociters for susonics i use eley extras they group well better than those winchesters subs, and i thought they were the dogs bollocks as for 1022`s theres a make that i would never have again, but thats my opinion, talk about jam and i was told that stingers where tolong for the chamber ofthe 1022`s maybe wrong ?

Stingers in a "581"(in the box as new) I bought here off the boards back in June gave some ridicoulosuly high velocities as well as some ridicoulosuly tight groups at 100 yards!!!...never mind the ragged hole 50 yard 10 shot groups!! The VELOCITORS did exceptionally well also!! Not to mention the CCI SHORT HP's which had a little ragged hole, 20 shot group, as well as a 37fps extreme spread!!! Made not much difference as to the VELOCITORS, STINGERS, SHORT HP's in that one!! They all surprised an old centerfire guy!! And I wouldn't give the steam off a morning fart for the 17HMR offerings from CCI in any of the 30 different 17HMR's I've tested them in!! GHD Groundhog Devastation(GHD)

chapster1,
I have 5 10/22's right now(one for every member of the family) and have owned a few others(bought my first one in 1976) and never had a problem with jamming except when I tried to use after market high capacity magazines(like the ones from Butler Creek) then it was jam city. Never had a problem with factory magazines. As far as someone telling you that the Stingers were too long for the 10/22, Don’t believe everything you hear. I have been shooting Stingers in 10/22’s since 1976 and never a problem. In fact when Stingers first came out they were NOT recommended for use in semi-auto’s EXCEPT for the Ruger 10/22. Check back with CCI and they will verify this. Lawdog

I'm not sure if you have an American or the Euro model, I've had better luck with Velocitors than Stingers in my CZ 452ZKM. Neither were fantastic in terms of accuracy. The most accurate out of my rifle have been the Eley orange box, Remington Subsonic and RWS subsonic. The RWS gave me a freak sub MOA group at 100 yards.

He is partially correct in his statement. You can shoot stingers out of any .22lr barrel so long as it's not "Bentz" chambered. Such is the case in the 10/22T (Target Model) and it is specifically mentioned in the manual not to do so. That being said, I have shot close to probably 1500 coons, opossums, aramadillo's with stingers without any problems from my 10/22 which at the time had a Bentz chambered barrel on it. Take it for what it's worth. I sold that 10/22 mentioned above qutie a long time ago and picked up a Mini-14 for varmint work. I have decided to go back to the 10/22 for this again. I think I will give velocitors a try as they sound like they are quite a bit more accurate.

The Ruger 10/22T didn't exist when CCI Stingers were first introduced. That's the time period my statement referred to. Lawdog

Quite right. I didn't pick that up when I first read you're post. I guess I was just tired.
