Hey all, I am looking at picking up a used rifle and thought I would pick your brain on this on? The rifle is a savage 110 in .223. 20 inch heavy barrel, typical savage plastic stock, sharp shooter trigger (probably added as after market part). Here is the part that I am not familiar with. The bolt is laser etched with the savage logo and a large "4X4". I'm assuming that is what Savage called the FV before they called it the FV? Can anyone comfirm this or have one of these "4X4" rifles? If you have one hows it shoot? The second thing that has me a bit worried is when we tightened up the screws on the stock, the bolt would bind and could not be removed from the rifle or be closed completely. Inspection showed that both the rear and front screws were slightly too long. The assumption is that the rifle came with washers under the bolts and the previous owner lost them? New washers or shortning the screws would correct the problem? Anything I should be worried about here? Price is $395, and gun comes with rings, mounts and a Simmons pro 50 scope which I am going to remove but probably keep around to use if I need a scope in a pinch. If I bought it I would plan on bedding the factory stock and probably running a pillar down the forearm to inscrease stiffness. Any imput from you all would be appreciated. Thanks, Matt | |||
