Anyone tried the 86 grain Hornady in the 30 Carbine?

I bought a box of .308 bore 86 grain jacketed soft point bullets marked .30 Mauser with the intention of trying some loads for the 30 Carbine. I think the lighter bullet will allow greater velocity and expansion should be impressive.

What think? Might this be a way to get the 30 carbine off its knees (and at least into a squatting position) or is this bullet all wrong for this application? Anyone have any experience along these lines?
