I came a cross a brand new Henry .22 LR golden boy with some of the nicest walnut wood I've seen on basically a $500 rifle. Sunburst everywhere! Glad I decided to check into it before buying it on the spot. Much to my disappointment, I found out the ..22's are not solid brass like their big brothers. They only appear that way. It's plated white metal instead. Darn. Would have made a great gift for the Wife. Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

However, they are plenty strong for a 22.

Thanks dp. It's the plating that I'm not fond of. Looks to be very thin. Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

A friend has one. He has found the plating to be somewhat "fragile".

I've had one for many years and no issues with the finish.

I love my Henry H001. Haven't bought a Golden Boy but the plain blued one has been flawless. A lot of fun to shoot. Would make a great gift for her. "Let me start off with two words: Made in America"

I know several people who own Henry firearms. Some have had good luck with them. Others have had not so good luck with them. Spin the wheel take your chances.

Yup. Had one and it was slap worn out after about 5 years of moderate use. My model 39 however is as good as ever... I'm what you call your basic famous.

I think the receiver is made from a cheap alloy called Zamac that’s clad in a cheap brass covering. Not my idea of an heirloom quality.22. Build quality pales in comparison to my 39 or 9422. **************** NRA Life Benefactor Member
