My CZ Hornet is right out of the box except for a trigger job. A load consisting of: Win. brass, CCI small pistol primer, 40gr. Speer or 40gr. .224 Sierra Hornet bullets, and 13.3grs. of Lil Gun averaged .8ins. for 5 shots. I am going to glass bed the rifle. BTW, velocity ran 2998fps. for 3 shots.
I have a Ruger #1 Hornet/26in. barrel and it grouped just about the same and the velocity ran 3105fps. This ruger shoots in the .5 &.6s with the 35gr. Hornady VMax bullets.
Jerry, some hornets are .223 and some are .224 barrels. This could be a factor in you accuracy problems. I had a Win M-43 in K Hornet and shot it a zillion rounds. 1.5" was normal accuracy at 100 yds, reloads or factory. Of course factory was fireforming as it went. Many hornet shooters here, especially the CZ guys, report superb accuracy. My rifle was just a great little hunting rifle and that's all I ever did with it. It performed super in this capacity.
I always considered this little rifle my "most deadly" simply because on those occasions I missed a varmit, the critters usually just stopped in their tracks and looked at me as if to ask, "What was that?" (Hornets don't make much noise.) Most didn't live over that mistake.

I would like to know how the 527'S in 22 Hornet shoot with reloads as well. I have always had trouble with Hornets shooting consistant groups with handloads. Now, I hope they don't shoot worth a hoot, cause if they do,,,,well,, I just might have to buy another CZ. LOL
Cummins, afraid I haven't had a chance to get back to the range with my reloads. I'll update the board when I go out again. I'm going to test some 150 gr cast as well next time.
Sorry for the delay.

My 527 Hornet averages .41" @100 yds. shooting Remington brass, 13.5 gr. Hodgdon Lil' Gun, Hornady 40 gr Vmax, Winchester small rifle primer. I only partially full-length size my brass. I adjust the die to size approx .25" of the case neck. I also uniform the primer pockets. I load these to 1.91" oal. At that length, they have to be single loaded. I have modified my magazine to accept the over-length rounds, but it still needs some fine tuning to feed 100% from the mag. And yes, I love my CZ. I have had similar good luck with my CZ 452 17 HMR and 452 Special .22 LR. YMMV
