Finally got to tweek my Kimber Montana 223.It was supposed to be free floating but not quite .I put a .015" shim under the receiver just behind the recoil lug and the groups significantly got smaller !! dancing
Even on a windy day it was obvious. I was trying to get 1 MOA or better .The shim raised the barrel completey clear of the forend. Big Grin

Yep, it is pretty simple... if the cartridge won't group, check the stock; if there is a pressure point, relieve it. If there isn't, put one there... one of the two will typically solve the problem!

That simply cannot be. Everyone knows it takes a ton of work to get a Kimber to shoot. Wink

That's why I went to gunsmithing school ! Wink
Examine carefully, diagnose the problem ,cobble up the cure .The shim is some chimney flashing, stainless steel of course to go with the barrel [no difference between thermal expansion co-efficient ! Roll Eyes] wave
