In one of my replys regarding CZ 527 rifles I stated that I was considering a rebarreling job on a 527 in 7.62 X 39 to 6.5 X 39 hoping for 2600 fps with a 125 gr Nosler and 20" bbl. Looks like that was optomistic. Does anyone have experience with the 6.5 X 39?

The 7.62 x 39 is loaded to a standard pressure of about 45,000 psi or cup, depending on the reference source. The case is fully capable, in a modern turnbolt, of working pressures in the 50 to 54,000 range. If you load your 6.5 x 39 up to those pressures, it would likely match the velocity of the 7.62 with the same weight bullets, depending on the nature of the individul barrel.

Who has reamers for the 6.5x39? Is it an improved case? I had been considering having my Ruger 7.62x39 rebarreled to 6mm PPC. How does the 6.5x39 compare ballistically? Thanks, Cobalt
