Hello Guys

Has anyone had any experience with Hornardy 110 grain Interbonds at 250 savage velocities (probably about 2750-2800 fps in my rifle) on large deer (I'm down in NZ where we have Red Deer and Wapiti)

Thanks

although not the same bullet, I have a bud that loads the Accubond 110gr bullet with 37g of IMR 4350 and match primers to produce a super light recoiling round and very nice groups at 100 yards. This is in his Ruger 77, the full stock model with 18 inch barrel. FS

One thing you can always take to the bank and that is any primium bullet and almost any cup and core bullet will always work just fine at 2700 to 2800 FPS...If problems exist then they start at 3000 FPS and get worse as the velocity increases.

Thus the wonderful reputation the 250 has as a killer of both medium and large game, and well deserved I might add..

We have shot 5 or 6 with the 110 Accubond and the 250 Savage, kills deer dead, just like any other 100 gr bullet in the 250.
The 250 Savage is highly under rated. I have had one shot kills on deer from 25-440 yards. In total my 250 has accounted for 50+ deer and a few thousand prairie dogs. The largest deer weighed in at 230# and my daughter shot it at 260 yards with a 100gr Rem CL.

tentman,

Yes, we have some very disappointing experience with 110 gr. Hornady Interbonds in a 250 Savage.

Our experience says it depends on which rifle you're gonna launch them outa because we tried Grandpa'a Savage Model 99 in 250 Savage and the bullets hit the target sideways at 100 meters.

The twist in the (ancient) Model 99's is not correct for those modern, longish bearing Interbonds.

Cheers,

Hopefully my rifle won't be an issue, if it ever gets back from the smith its a Mauser Kurz with a Kriger cut rifled barrel in the original Model B profile. Twist is 1 in 10 inches.

Thanks guys for your thoughts.
