Gentlemen,
I am having so much fun with these forums that I know it must be a SIN. I have noticed these rifles mentioned in various forums. I know it is Nip, but I have as yet not been able to find their web site. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT I AM OLD. SO MUCH SO THAT I CAN STILL REMEMBER THAT ADDING MACHINES WORKED BY PULLING A HAND CRANK. Calculator? NO such thing.
(I can still remember as a very young boy going to my fathers office to see if I could squeeze a nickel out of him and watching him working that damn machine with his right hand and not even looking at the keys. He was amazing. No one coul;d have asked for a better father. The only sticking point was that he was not a hunter or shooter and both my grandfather and uncle dripped blood. When I can of age in my early teens and wanted to hunt he arranged for me to go with his best friend. The is a super story and I will write and post it later. But to give you an idea as to what to expect I will let you know that his friend was the man that kept the crews in meat that built the Tamiami Trail US41 across the everglades. He ran the walking dredge during the day and killed game whenever he could for the crews.
tHANKS IN ADVANCE
Jack

Thanks a group. What ever happen to Lee? Does he still play. He had a hell of a sense of humor didn't he?

I think he plays every now and then, but not to often. He has several good quotes but that is my favorite.

Thanks in advance,
I went to the web site and it doesn't even have a view of the action or other important concerns.
Would someone please provide me with details or a place that I can see the things that are really important? Everything Nip that I have ever had has been good so I would expect the rifle to be so also. Opinions?

Go to the top of this page and click on "find" when the box comesup type in "Howa Rifles" and it will take you to several threads where people talk about Howa's. I bet you will be hard pressed to find anyone who has anything bad to say about them, especially for the money. I'm not sure if you know this or not but Howa builds the Weatherby Vangard line. I do own a Howa and have no complaints.

I loved those old adding machines! Calculators don't make a noise or vibrate the table like those things did.

I'm right fond of my Howa/Weatherby Vanguard, too.

For a quick look-see..... and if you want to buy....

Walmart.com has them listed in their special order guns section.... most everything they sell.

For my money, one of the best rifles out there. Pretty much what you get if you combine Winchester flat bottom, Sako claw, Remington bolt, and Japanese quality control.

One of my buddies has a long action model he uses as a switch barrel -- just buys Howa and Weatherby Vanguard take-off barrels and screws them on. Has not had one yet (Out of like 10) that did not headspace exactly correctly on the 1st try. Every one of them shoots under 1 moa.

Best regards

John

My only complaint with the Howa actions is that they are push feed instead of control feed. Not a big issue, granted, just my own personal preferances. As far as accuracy is concerned, they are comperable to anything in the Mauser configuration.

Never mistake motion for action.
