First off, I know little or nothing about Winchester rifles. I have a guy trying to sell me a Winchester Model 70 Varmit Sporter rifle in a 22-250. I have never heard of such, but he said it was a about 5 yrs old with about 500 rnds through it. It has a walnut stock and a blued bull barrel. It has a bedded action and a trigger job. He's asking $450. I did some research and can't find anything similar to what he's talking about. Can you Winchester experts out there give me some help? Good buy? Also, thanks to everyone who has given me advice/suggestions in the past.

I have a Win 70 XTR Sporter Varmint, which is about 10 years old I think. It has a 24" sporter weight barrel on it, which is still heavy enough with a .224 hole in it. Mine shoots extremely well. I think that if it is the sporter variant, it should just have the standard barrel as mine does. It has primarily shooter's value, but even in good shape $450 sounds a little high to me. $350-400 might be a fair deal (to me anyway).
