Hi Folks. I have just been gifted an almost brand new rifle in 250/303 by a family of friends. Smiler It is a Lithgow built SMLE action with a plastic stock. Very nice! I have liked that rifle since I first took a friend to view and buy it. Now it is mine! Cool

Now to load up for it and see what it can do. It seems to have a chamber with the same neck/shoulder position as the 303 so the shoulder/body is set back a little. Some of the cases that came with it have short necks. I had already made up a set of neck forming dies which I never got to test.

Confused I don't know how to post pictures! Big Grin

I will have to get my son to set up a website for me. The rifle doesn't have a scope on it yet. I'll get the scope rings on Saturday.

OK, the caliber is 303-25. That must mean something. The shoulder is further back than the 303 but the neck is in the same place. It would be ballistically identical to a 250 Savage. I always liked the idea of 250 Savage! I also like the 257 Roberts. So I have compromised on a 303-25 - I like it already! Big Grin I know I am going to have fun! thumb

Oh yes, it came with a box of Nosler 85gr ballistic tips and a box of Sierra 100gr SPS's and a bag of once fired cases (fired in a different rifle). Smiler

Posting pictures is as easy as falling off a log .. #1 Put your pics on Photo Bucket
#2 resize them for forums [ you don,t have to do this , but it uses less band width ]
# 3 start typing a reply , minus it or underscore , what ever its called.... go to photo bucket .
#4 find the pic you want to post ,scroll to the img line and left click on it ,It will light up and say copied or something like that
#5 go down and click on your post a reply box on the bottom of your screen , your message will come up ,put the mouse by your last sentence ,ect . #6 Right click scroll down the window and left click paste ........

Takes less time to do it than it took me to write it ....... ....See , a Logger showed you how ,, Easy

I hope this does it. The barrel is actually longer than that. Wow, it worked! Thanks, gumboot458. But it took me about three hours! Big Grin

It is fun! It now takes me as long as the internet connection. Big Grin

Suppressors are the greatest thing since sliced bread! Funny thing, I always used to use HV 22lr ammo for the trajectory and power. Now that I use subsonic 22lr ammo with a 'silencer', I would never go back to HV's. Those subs work just as well and are soooo quiet! The supressor on the hornet ... well .... it does help a lot but I still need ear plugs. But what a differenct they make on high power rifles! My hornet one is very simple and only overhangs the muzzle by 2 inches but the baffles need a little refinement. Still, it sounds like an unsuppressed 22 WMR.
