My personal favorite is a 40 gr. Vmax over the top of a max load of RL-7 ....be sure to check out an appropriate loading manual but if memory serves me its 19.0 gr. Another good powder is AA1680.....their loading info is on the net. I shoot a Contender carbine in .221 FB and get almost 3400 fps with that combo and its shear death to prairie dogs. I have purchased brass from Mid South and from Midway and it usually runs about $22/100. It lasts a very long time too.

Re the 40gr pills and wind drift: can't recall the BC, but when the transit time to target is short, less chance for the wind to affect impact! Useful range will naturally depend on target size, but you should find 200yd shots easily doable.
My logic is scale the bullet weight to the case capacity, and the Fireball and various 40gr pills just seem ideal.
