I've read and heard that imr4831 and reloader 22 are usually the best powders for 100 grain and larger bullets for the 25-06. In what range of the powder charge do you find your best accuracy? (High, middle or low) I'm planning on loading 110 Gr Accubonds. Thanks, Mark

My MarkX likes it as hot as it will go little past Noslers max. My buddies Sako likes it about medium to medium high using Noslers loads. Every rifle is different. I would try their accurate load as a start. It is as good as any of ours.

As usual just my $.02

My Savage 110FP likes 49 grains of IMR 4350 with 120 grain Nosler Partitions. I'm getting three shots under .5" with this load at 3008 fps (chronographed).

Using Moly plated 100grTSX bullets, and Reloder 22 in my Ruger#1 I get 3430 ft and very small 3 shot groups like 1/4". This rifle shoots best with hot loads.

You can read about on my web page, on page two.

I've been using:
56.7gr of H-4831sc to push 75 gr V-Max
48.5gr of IMR-4350 to push 115gr Nosler BT
But I'm starting to back off the loads a bit, so I might load these down 1/2 to 1 gr.

Word to the wise
"There's a difference between the IMR-4831 and the Hodgdons 4831---
Don't confuse the load data---IMR is HOTTER"

The 25-06 that won't shoot 49.0 grains of IMR 4350 behind the SIERRA 117 grain SBT accurrately enough to suffice is an odd beast!!! Deadliest darn bullet I've ever seen on whitetails from the .25's!!! ......and for that matter a lot of stuff up to the 30's!! Try that one and see what happens!! Most likely, a dead deer!!!! GHD PS: SHot placement, shot placement, shot placement!!!!

I surely appreciate all the replies and advice. The gun will be here this week. I've got the supplies needed to experiment with. I will let you all know in a couple of weeks what the results are. Thanks

You might consider H1000. I got lower velocity variation and standard deviation with this powder. The load density is much higher. It shot about 50 fps slower than R22 or IMR 4831, but was more accurate and consistent.

My two favorite loads for my .25-06 using the newer Barnes 100 gr. TSX bullets are;

59.5 gr. of RE 22 for 3,355 fps. & 54.5 gr. of IMR 4350 for 3,265 fps. - both of these shoot well under MOA in any of my .25-06’s(three of them).

I have found that the TSX bullets give better accuracy, better weight retention and penetrate deeper than the 115 gr. Nosler Partition. Lawdog

Another powder you might want to consider for the 110 gr. bullet is IMR-7828. My favorite load for the .25-06 is the 115 gr. Nosler partition with 54.5/IMR-7828, Fed. 215 primer, and Rem. brass. My rifle is a Rem. 700 Classic. It has also worked well in 3 other rifles owned by friends.
