I alredy have a couple threads started on this rifle, and there is a link to a picture on one .
Interesting comments from some of you guys, on the #1s.
Of my 3, the #1A 7X57 shoots extreemly well,
The #1 RSI in 30,06 , shoots well enough for what it is, But my new (to me) #1B in 6mmRem , apears to be a wonerfull rifle !.
I was shooting very informaly off the hood of my truck at targets tacked to tree stumps.
One target was at about 75 long paces, and I shot 3 loads into it.
2 were under an inch and one was just over.
I then walked up the hill about 150 yards give or take 10.
I put 2 hundred grain hornady BTs about as close as you can get together and still have 2 holes.
I pulled the 3rd badly as my make shift rest slipped.
Then I put 3 100 grain sierra flat bases into .75, and right in the same place as the 2 hornady bullets went.
whole group was 1.10 for 5 shots at about 140 yards off a make shift rest from the hood of my truck.
This is going to be a great rifle.
It also shot very well with some winchester 100 grain power points.
The power points chronied at 3140.
I bet some of my hand loads do close to or better than 3300.
Each load had a different bullet and a different powder.
I plan to get her to the range next week mabye tuesday.

Cliff.
Its my 1st rifle chamberd for the 6mm Rem, but I have had a couple .243s.
I have allways like the rounds based on the 7X57 cartridge.
My smith has a cool but plain rifle he built in 6mm. I have been eying it for years.
Its built on a Mill surp 98 and has a 19 inch barrel that is just a little on the heavy side.
A plain jane wood stock, and a timney trigger.
I might some how end up with that rifle one day, too.
I just have a feeling it would shooooot.
In my #1 chronied 1 shot of a factory winchester
100 grain power point , got 3140 Fps.
Am just about certain I can beat that by 100 and mabye 150.
unfortunatly, I decided to chrony my son in laws 40 smith hand gun.
Lets just say, I am going to put a new chrony on layaway today...tj3006

Ouch, that doesn't have a good sound to it. I wonder how many chronys over the years have passed on via this method...

I hope you had a blanket or tarp covering the hood of your truck. I shot my .243 across the hood of my truck years ago and within two months, you could see where the powder had burned through the paint. It wasn't noticable immediatly after shooting.

Sounds like you got a nice rifle.

Don't ask me what happened, when I left Viet Nam, we were winning.
