I have ordered a Weatherby Vanguard in .257 Weatherby Mag. and am anxiously waiting for it to come in. I do not have any experience with the .257 mag., and I am wondering which of the Weatherby factory loads would be the best for whitetail deer at long range (up to 400 yards)?

Any info you can provide will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ole Miss Rebel

the 100sp shoots great in my rig. a little cheaper than the top o' da' line bullets [think they are 115 nosler but cant remember]. the 100 will perform fine on your intended game.
wont know much though till' you try em'. 400 yards is a very long way. find which one shoots best and go with that....

Either the SP or Barnes. I'd stay away from the BT's. I've always been partial to 100 gr. bullets in my .257 wby and handload 100 gr. Barnes boat tails. I tried the 100 gr. triple X last weekend and it looks promising with a little more load development.
